Maximum: 2 Students
This 2-hour workshop is perfect for people who want to explore basic hand fabricated jewelry making techniques. The jeweler’s saw is a workhorse on my workbench. Sawing skills are great for accenting your beaded jewelry with custom designs in metal, making loops for toggle clasps, creating elements for chain, and all sorts of interesting metal components for soldered and riveted jewelry. The sky is the limit with what you can do with a jeweler’s saw.
=> Instruction and materials to make a brass or copper pendant plus a FREE leather cord!
=> A selection of pre-printed designs to pierce.
=> Handouts for reference during and after the class.
By the end of this 2-hour workshop, you will be able to:
=> Explain what metal gauge is, considerations for choosing metal thickness based on your design and how to determine which size saw blade is suitable for the metal you are working with.
=> Saw straight lines, curves, and sharp angles in a piece of metal.
=> Clean up the edges of your design with a file and rough sand it to remove scratches.
=> Apply a satiny brushed finish to your design using a simple method.
